4 lakh Bangladeshi pills seized in Assam | India News


GUWAHATI: Police seized an illegal shipment of around four Bangladeshi lakh Oral contraceptive pills at Assam’s Dhubri district headquarters on Saturday. A person has been arrested, reports Kangkan kalita.
The pills, called “Sukhi”, are reportedly smuggled across the international border along Assam, police said. The smuggled pills are sold inside the minority-dominated Dhubri district, near the Bangladesh border, and also in other nearby districts in lower Assam.
Police said the shipment was recovered from the residence of one Samsul haque, which managed trade with some suppliers on the other side of the border. A family member of Samsul was detained for questioning.
