Agencies are doing their job, there’s no interference: Govt | India News

NEW DELHI: Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur said Thursday that investigating agencies are “doing their job” and that “there is no (government) interference in it” with reference to the income tax action against the Dainik bhaskar group and Bharat samachar.
Speaking on the sidelines of a Cabinet Thakur responded to a question about the opposition’s allegation that the searches were intended to strangle the voice of democracy.
“Complete information must be taken and in its absence sometimes many issues arise that are far from the truth,” said the minister. Thakur’s comments came even as the income tax department conducted searches in several cities against Dainik Bhaskar and Bharat Samachar, prompting criticism from journalists’ organizations and political leaders.
