Alok Verma: Phones of ex-CBI chief Alok Verma too on snoop list | India News

NEW DELHI: After the government decided to remove Alok Verma As the Central Investigation Office (CBI) boss, his three phone numbers were allegedly noted down by an anonymous agency known to be a user of the Pegasus spyware, a web portal said in a report Thursday.
‘The Wire’ reported that “along with Verma, the personal phone numbers of his wife, daughter and son-in-law would eventually also be included in the list, making a total of 8 numbers for this family.”
The report also said the numbers for two other top IWC officials: Rakesh Asthana, a painting from Gujarat IPS officer and AK Sharma – were added to the alleged database. Asthana now head the Border security force. “NSO insists that the leaked database has nothing to do with the company or with Pegasus. Verma was not willing to participate in this story, so forensic analysis could not be performed on the phones linked to him, the only way to establish conclusively if they were attacked or infected with Pegasus, ”the report says. The website said that the phone numbers of Asthana, Sharma, Verma and their family members were listed in the leaked database for a short period.
