amarinder: ‘Shift protest out of Punjab’: CM Amarinder Singh appeals to farmers | India News

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh on Monday he called on farmers to move their protests out of state if they want to put pressure on the Center.
Affirming that the Congress supported farmer agitation against farm laws at every stage, Amarinder He said the development of the state is hampered by the protests.
“I want to tell the farmers of Punjab that this is their land. Their ongoing protests here are of no interest to the state. Instead of protesting in the state, farmers should pressure the Center to repeal the agricultural laws.” Amarinder said.
This comes a day later Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu wrote to the chief minister, seeking action on the farmers’ demands, including the cancellation of the “unfair” FIRs registered against the farmers during their agitation.
In a letter to the CM, Sidhu wrote: “This is to draw your attention and request the necessary action, on the demands raised by 32 farmers unions at the meeting called by them.”
Sidhu said peasant leaders demanded “the cancellation of the unjust and unjust FIRs” registered against the farmers’ unions due to cases of violence during the upheaval in the state. ”
