BJP cites Delhi, Maha affidavits, says oppn playing politics on Oxygen | India News

NEW DELHI: Citing affidavits filed in higher courts by Delhi and Maharashtra governments BJP on Wednesday criticized Congress member Rahul Gandhi and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for attacking the Center for claiming that there had been no deaths from lack of oxygen, when their governments had expressly denied it in court. Sambit Patra, BJP Spokesperson, emphasized that public health is a state issue and that the response was based on reports provided by state governments and the UTs. He accused Congress and AAP to indulge in petty politics and double standards.
He said the AAP made a big deal out of the 21 deaths at Jaipur’s Golden Hospital in April, attributing them to oxygen shortages. However, in an affidavit filed with the court, the Kejriwal government cited the report of an expert committee to deny oxygen deprivation as the cause of death. He said the Maharashtra government filed an affidavit with Bombay HC to deny reports that people had died due to oxygen shortages during the second wave of Covid.
