Cabinet secretary asks ministries, depts for details on delayed projects | India News

NEW DELHI: The cabinet secretary has ordered all ministries and departments to submit details of delayed projects, including those affected due to court cases. Sources said they have been asked to upload the latest status of projects costing more than Rs 500 crore on the project monitoring group’s platform.
“Now it is a priority for all infrastructure ministries. Some of the ministries and departments have presented details of the delayed projects and the cabinet secretary has scheduled a meeting to review progress. There is a strict deadline for uploading details to the project monitoring group platform and we have to specify whether the issues have been resolved or not, ”said an official.
This work across all ministries is being carried out following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership of expediting the completion of projects delayed over the last Pragati meeting. He had asked the cabinet secretary to prepare the list of delayed projects and identify the agencies and officials responsible for the delay. Modi had also instructed him to compile a list of projects impacted due to court cases and also to estimate the burden of the treasury due to such delays.
On Thursday, while addressing the opening of two office complexes for defense personnel, Modi had said that while in previous governments, delays in project completion were considered acceptable, his administration is more focused on the timely completion of projects.
