Cong trying to replace ‘failed’ CM with Sidhu who is known more for ‘theatrics’: SAD chief | India News
The opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also took shots in Congress, saying the ongoing infighting in the ruling party was just over a chair.
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu have disagreed on various issues. Sidhu was appointed president of the Punjab Congress on Sunday night.
President of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Sukhbir Singh Badal He said everyone is aware of Sidhu’s record as a minister of local bodies during which he did “nothing” to improve the condition of any town or city in the state.
Now Congress is trying to afford another “drama” by replacing its “failed” prime minister with former minister Sidhu, who is known more for his “theater” than his administrative role, Badal said in a statement here.
Not only was the congressional government pursuing a “divide and rule” policy, it was led by the “worst” prime minister in Punjab history, it claimed.
The head of the Punjab unit of the AAP, Bhagwant Mann, said that the dispute within Congress for a seat has only done a great “disservice” to Punjab, Punjabis and “Punjabiyat”.
Now Congress would have to “pay the price with interest” in the next assembly elections, Mann said in a statement here.
The Sangrur deputy said that the only agenda for all congressional leaders was to occupy the seat.
“Someone is fighting to save the chair and someone else is trying to grab that chair,” he said.
Mann said the people of Punjab have decided to “teach a lesson” to Congress in the 2022 assembly elections.
