“A two-wheeler (scooty JK02BA-0104) was intercepted and during its search, a heroin package was recovered with the 777 mark indicating cross-border links.”
SSP J&K ANTF said that the cyclist, namely Naresh Kumar alias Kurkaa, son of Mohan Lal from Mangiyal Avtara village, Khour-Akhnoor from Jammu district, was arrested on the spot.
“During questioning, the arrested person also revealed the names of two of his associates who deal with cross-border smuggling and have hidden one more package of heroin somewhere close to an international border,” Sharma said.
He said that two people identified as Kamal Singh alias Kali son of Vakil Singh from Rishi colony, Khour and Balbir Singh alias Kala (ex-military) son of Jagga Singh also from Khour, were arrested after a series of raids. ”
During sustained questioning, the duo revealed that a package of heroin was hidden near the International Border (IB).
“Consequently, the duo was taken to the Garar Khour border site, while the Army was also approached and another package containing 777 marks of a kilo of heroin was recovered,” said SSP Sharma.
He said: “In further questioning, the defendants revealed the modus operandi of the cross-border drug traffickers in which they revealed that the Pakistani drug traffickers dumped the shipment to the Indian side and the defendants were supposed to pick it up. “.
A case under the relevant section of the law is registered against the defendant and further investigations are underway to determine the forward and backward links of the cross-border drug cartel.
