While the mutations and variants of the coronavirus strain, that is, the SARS-COV-2 viruses have been widely discussed, none of the discussions has revolved around the pandemic taking a completely new turn or becoming COVID- 22.
Such possibilities, or facing COVID-22 threats, or possible additions, are also something that has no scientific backing as of now, apart from the statements made by said professor. Although the threat was called a huge hoax on social media, multiple expert and scientific opinions, through follow-up reports, have mentioned that there is no real possibility of super variants emerging, or of COVID-19 becoming something like COVID-22.
It was also clarified that much of the news about COVID-22 was a distorted representation based on no scientific credibility. The exact name of the disease caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus is known as COVID-19 and cannot be changed. The name of the coronavirus pandemic is not only derived from the year it originated (that is, the COVID pandemic that began to spread from the Wuhan district, China in late 2019), but there is no way of ’22 ‘in said COVID. -22 to have any meaning, as we are only in 2021 right now, and there is no real way to predict what will happen in the future. Unless and until this or that outbreak occurs, we cannot demand any credibility or truth from COVID-22.
There is also not much truth or probability of super contagious variants, more so as a consequence of the existing strains that are emerging at the moment. At this point, the suggestions only seem speculative and implausible.
