distinction: Distinction between role of men, women in war is blurring, says CDS General Rawat | India News

NEW DELHI: Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat on Thursday he observed that the distinction between the role of men and women in the war is blurring.
CDS Rawat’s comments came during his welcome speech at a webinar hosted by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (OCS) on ‘The role of women in the Armed forces‘ today.
“Today, the distinction between the role of men and women in warfare is blurring. Women have proven their worth in combat roles such as fighter pilots, paratroopers, submarines. They will continue to do so in the future as well,” said CDS Rawat.
“Today’s women are in the service of the armed forces all over the world. The training of female soldiers in the Indian Army has been difficult and has helped them with great force to carry out their tasks in various fields,” he added.
The international webinar was organized by the Minister of Defense in videoconference mode and defense minister Rajnath singh delivered the keynote speech at the webinar.
The conference was originally planned with the physical presence of the representatives of the member states in 2020, however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was carried out via videoconference, since despite the pandemic, the interaction between SCO member states. is still important.
The Government of India has recognized women as proud and essential members of the Indian Defense Forces and the potential they bring to the Armed Forces. Consequently, over the past seven years, the government has taken various measures to provide more opportunities for women in the Indian defense forces, as well as to create equal conditions of service for women and men. Today, women are highly empowered within the Indian defense forces, be it the Indian army, Indian navy or Indian air force.
