F1: Hamilton wins eighth British Grand Prix after Verstappen collision | Racing News

SILVERSTONE (UK): Lewis Hamilton revived his Formula One title defense by winning the Great Britain Grand Prix for the eighth time on Sunday despite a 10-second penalty after colliding with Max Verstappen, taking the championship leader out of the race.
To the roar of a crowd of over 140,000, Hamilton attempted to overtake Verstappen at Copse Turn on the first lap rather than send the Red Bull exiting the runway and entering the barrier.
Charles Leclerc took the lead but, despite adding 10 seconds to a pit stop, Mercedes star Hamilton caught the Ferrari and he passed in Copse on lap 50 of the 52-lap race.
Meanwhile, Verstappen was taken to hospital “for further precautionary tests,” Red Bull said.
