For better Infra-coordination, PM Modi to unveil Gati Shakti masterplan today | India News

NEW DELHI: In what is touted as a “landmark event for the country’s infrastructure landscape,” the Prime Minister Narendra modi will launch the PM GatiShakti – National Master Plan for multimodal connectivity here today to address the lack of coordination between different departments.
“The creation of infrastructure in India had suffered for decades from multiple problems. There was a lack of coordination between different departments, for example, once a road was built, other agencies excavated the newly built road for activities like laying cables. underground, gas pipelines, etc. This not only caused great inconvenience, but was also a wasteful expense. To address this, efforts were made to increase coordination so that all cables, pipes, etc. could be installed simultaneously, “said one official statement.
Steps have also been taken to address other issues such as the time-consuming approval process, the multiplicity of regulatory clearances, etc. In the past seven years, the government has ensured an unprecedented focus on infrastructure through a holistic perspective, he added.
Prime Minister GatiShakti will address the problems of the past by institutionalizing holistic planning for stakeholders in major infrastructure projects. Rather than planning and designing separately in silos, projects will be designed and executed with a common vision. It will incorporate the infrastructure schemes of various Ministries and State Governments such as Bharatmala, Sagarmala, inland waterways, dry / land ports, UDAN etc. Economic zones such as textile clusters, pharmaceutical clusters, defense corridors, electronic parks, industrial corridors, fishing clusters, agricultural zones will be covered to improve connectivity and make Indian companies more competitive. It will also make extensive use of technology, including spatial planning tools with ISRO images developed by BiSAG-N (Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Spatial Applications and Geoinformatics).
“Individual ministries and departments often work in silos. There is a lack of coordination in project planning and implementation, leading to delays. Prime Minister GatiShakti will help to synchronize the activities of each department, as well as of the different levels of governance, holistically in a manner ensuring coordination of work between them, “the statement said.
All ministries and departments will now be able to view, review and monitor the progress of cross-sector projects, through the GIS platform, since satellite images will give progress on the ground periodically and the progress of projects will be updated on a regular basis. In the portal. It will help identify vital interventions to improve and update the master plan.
