“We have identified 10 cities and 82 routes to develop helicopter corridors across the country, starting with 6 between Juhu – Pune-Juhu; Mahalakshmi-Pune Racecourse; Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar. To boost helicopter emergency medical services in India, heliports will be developed along with 3 highways (Delhi-Bombay, Ambala-Kotpuli and Ambala-Bhatinda-Jamnagar). This would ensure prompt evacuation and medical treatment for accident victims, ”he said at a helicopter summit in Dehradun on Friday.
“A dedicated helicopter acceleration cell will be established in the Union Ministry of Aviation, which will provide normative and policy guidance to instill ease of doing business for the helicopter industry. As part of the new helicopter policy, helicopter operators will be exempt from paying the parking deposit and landing charges. The Airports Authority of India and air traffic control officers will receive appropriate training. We will work collaboratively with all state governments to improve the ease of doing business for the helicopter industry, ”he said.
