NEW DELHI: After COVID-19 vaccines, PPE kits and hand sanitizers, the government may soon lift export restrictions on RT-PCR, rapid antigen testing (RAT) and RNA extraction kits, etc.
the Ministry of Health It recommended repealing the export restrictions imposed on Covid-19 diagnostic kits that were previously imposed in the wake of the large number of infected cases in the country.
In a letter to the General Directorate of Foreign Trade (DGFT), the Ministry of Health suggested the free export of these products. The recommendations are based on deliberations at a corresponding empowered Group 6 meeting in September. The group has decided to revoke the restrictions and allow the free export of these products, even further insinuations, the letter said. TOI has reviewed a copy of the letter. Diagnostic kits, including RT-PCR kits, RNA extraction kits, and VTMs, were added to the category restricted for exports by the DGFT as of June 2020, while RAT kits were included in the list in August 2021.
