JAMMU: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday carried out searches at around 41 locations in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh in an infamous ongoing investigation of a case involving the Jammu and Kashmir Gun Licensing Racket.
According to the CBI spokesperson, the searches were carried out on Tuesday morning in the areas of Srinagar, Banihal, Anantnag, Baramulla, Jammu, Doda, Rajouri, Kishtwar of Jammu and Kashmir, Leh, Delhi and Bhind in Madhya Pradesh ( MP) in official and residential facilities. of about 14 then public servants, including district magistrates (IAS / KAS), DIO, secretaries, etc.
“Around five private persons (brokers / agents) and around 10 arms houses / dealers were also searched during an investigation,” the spokesman said.
The official added that during the searches, the incriminating documents, including the issuance of gun licenses, list of beneficiaries, documents related to the investment in FDR and other income from the sale, ownership documents, bank account details, locker keys, diary with incriminating details, gun license records, electronic devices / mobile phones and something of cash, including old currency.
The spokesperson further said: “CBI had registered two cases at the request of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and an additional notification from the Government of India, and took over the investigation of two FIRs previously registered with the Station Monitoring Organization. Kashmir and Jammu Police on Allegations of Gun Licensing in the Former State of Jammu and Kashmir from 2012 to 2016 “.
“It was alleged that more than 2.78 lakhs of gun licenses were issued to people without rights. CBI also collected documents related to the issuance of said armed licenses supposedly distributed in 22 districts of J&K, ”he said referring to the case.
The spokesperson said: “During the investigation and scrutiny of documents, the role of certain arms dealers It was discovered that, in collusion with public servants, that is, the then DM and ADM, etc. of the district in question, had allegedly issued such illegal gun licenses to ineligible persons “.
“It was also alleged that the people who obtained these licenses were not residents of the places from where the gun licenses were issued. Further investigations are underway,” the spokesperson revealed.
