He left Congress not for any individual or for any charge: Jitin Prasada | India News

NEW DELHI: One day after switching to BJP, Jitin Prasada on thursday he said he left the Congress not because of any individual or because of any position, but because of the “growing disconnect” between the party and the people of Uttar Pradesh.
Prasada, who had also served as Union minister in the Congress-led UPA government and whose family had been associated with the party for three generations, joined the BJP on Wednesday, calling the saffron party “the only one true national party “at home. .
Prasada, among the group of 23 congressional leaders who had written to the party chief Sonia Gandhi last October, who was seeking organizational reform, he did not blame any individual within the party for his departure.
“I left Congress not for any person or for any office. The reason I left Congress was because there is a growing disconnect between the party and the people. And that is the reason, their percentage of votes is shrinking in Uttar Pradesh. and there is no plan to revive the game, “Prasada told PTI on Thursday.
Underlining that his decision to join the BJP was made after discussions and deliberations, he said that he wants to serve his people, his state and the nation.
He was unable to protect the interests of his people while he was in Congress, he said, asserting that the BJP is the only institutionalized national party in the county.
