In addition to Covishield, Covaxin, list of vaccines being developed in India

Dr. Reddy’s, a Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company, received an emergency use authorization for the commercialization and production of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine, Sputnik V, in India in April. While the company has already made progress with a soft launch after the initial dose shipment from Russia arrived, production of the dose is expected to increase in the coming weeks. The vaccine uses the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 virus, which cannot replicate in human cells, to stimulate an immune response. Interim results have shown the vaccine to be extremely effective with an efficacy rate of more than 90%.

It is also reported that Dr. Reddy’s is seeking authorization for the sale and production of Sputnik Light, which is a new single-dose variant of the same vaccine. The company has also entered into agreements with DRDO to manufacture and supply doses of the recently launched innovative COVID drug, the drug 2DG.

Hetero Biopharma will also be a major producer working to supply millions of doses of the Sputnik V vaccine in the coming months.
