The Union minister also said: “Mucormycosis cases in the country during the last two months are showing a downward trend.”
According to the Union’s health ministry, up to 45,374 cases of mucormycosis were reported in the country. Meanwhile, 4,332 patients have died from the disease across the country.
Mucormycosis or black fungus is a complication caused by a fungal infection. People get mucormycosis from coming into contact with fungal spores in the environment. It can also develop on the skin after the fungus enters the skin through a cut, scrape, burn, or other trauma to the skin, according to the Union Ministry of Health.
The disease is detected among patients who are recovering or have recovered from Covid-19. Also, anyone who is diabetic and whose immune system is not working well should be on guard against this.
