NEW DELHI: The government has reinstated its previous guidelines by withdrawing a travel advisory issued on October 1 that required British citizens arriving in India to undergo a mandatory 10-day quarantine, even if fully vaccinated.
India had issued the notice as the United Kingdom, even after recognizing Covishield vaccine produced by Serum Institute of India, retained the 10-day quarantine period for fully vaccinated travelers from India.
The notice was withdrawn after the British government ordered the discontinuation of mandatory testing and quarantine rules for those vaccinated with Covishield and traveling from India.
The Ministry of Health said: “Based on the evolution of the scenario, it has been decided that the revised guidelines will remain withdrawn and the previous guidelines on international the arrival issued on February 17th will be applicable to all travelers arriving in India from the UK. ”
India had issued the advisory as the UK, even after recognizing the Covishield vaccine, retained the 10-day quarantine period for fully vaccinated travelers from India.
