MANAMA: India Women’s Soccer Team beat those of higher rank Chinese taipei 1-0 in an international friendly match to end their four-match exhibition tour on a winning note on Wednesday.
Renu He scored the most important goal in the third minute and the Indians held off their opponents until the end. Chinese Taipei ranks 40th on the FIFA list, while Indians rank 57th.
Thomas Dennerby’s team had entered the match after a 5-0 win over Bahrain in their previous outing here on Sunday.
In addition to the positive result against Bahrain, ranked 85, India beat the United Arab Emirates 4-1 and lost 0-1 in Dubai to Tunisia, ranked 77, in international friendly matches earlier this month.
The friendly matches were part of the preparations for the AFC Asian Cup, which will be hosted by India in January-February.
Before the 100th win against the United Arab Emirates on October 2, the Indians had not won in the previous five matches this year, although all of them were against top-ranked European teams.
