Jet Airways 2.0 to take off by next March; first flight on Delhi-Mumbai route

NEW DELHI: Jet airways 2.0 could fly early next year, starting with domestic flights – Delhi-Mumbai will be inaugural flight – and then fly to foreign shores.
the airline had ceased operations in April 2019 and has become the first Indian airline to be revived under bankruptcy laws. In its new avatar, Jet will be based in Delhi NCR and not Mumbai like Jet Airways 1.0.
“We received NCLT approval in June 2021, and since then we have been working closely with all interested authorities to get the airline back in the skies. Jet Airways 2.0 aims to restart domestic operations by the first quarter of 2020 and international short haul operations by the third quarter / fourth quarter of 2022. Our plan is to have more than 50 aircraft in 3 years and more than 100 in 5 years, ”said Murari Lal Jalan, a senior member of the Jalan Kalrock consortium and the proposed non-executive chairman of Jet Airways.

“Aircraft are selected based on competitive long-term leasing solutions. It is the first time in aviation history that an airline that has been on the ground for more than two years is being revived and we look forward to being a part of this historic journey. The Jet Airways brand has a great loyalty base and we are confident that we will be able to capitalize and create new benchmarks. We would like to assure all of our loyal Jet Airways guests that their favorite airline will soon be back in the skies, ”added Jalan.
The process to revalidate Jet’s existing air operator certificate (AOC or license) is underway. The consortium is working closely with the relevant authorities and airport coordinators on space allocation, required airport infrastructure and overnight parking.

The senior members of the Jalan Kalrock Consortium along with the Jet 2.0 operations team led by the newly appointed Captain Sudhir Gaur, Accountable Manager and Acting Chief Executive Officer visited key airports last month and held productive meetings with them.
Captain Gaur said: “In its new avatar, Jet Airways will now be headquartered in Delhi NCR and its senior management will work from the corporate office at Gurugram. However, Jet Airways will continue to have a strong and significant presence in Mumbai, where it will work from its ‘Global One’ office in Kurla. Jet Airways also has a state-of-the-art training center located at Global One, which will be retained and used for in-house training of the Jet Airways team. ”
“We will begin national operations on a fleet of narrow-body aircraft leased from the world’s leading aircraft lessors who have approached us and with whom we continue to collaborate. Jet Airways has already hired more than 150 full-time employees on its payroll and we are looking to add more than 1,000 employees by fiscal year 2021-22 in all categories. The hiring will be in stages and will be strictly on merit, to meet the operational requirements of the airline. The Jet Airways team is committed to ensuring that Jet Airways will restart operations with its first flight from New Delhi to Mumbai by the first quarter of 2022, ”added Captain Gaur.
