KKR’s positive intent on and off field reason behind team’s turnaround, says Venkatesh Iyer | Cricket News

SHARJAH: Horsemen of the Kolkata Knights can opener Venkatesh Iyer has credited the team’s tremendous change of course in the second stage of the IPL to the positive intention shown on and off the field by the players and management.
After a disappointing first half in which they lost five of their seven games, KKR won seven of their nine games in the second leg in the United Arab Emirates to reach the final.
The two-time champions will face each other Super Kings of Chennai in the summit clash in Dubai after their three-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in the second qualifying game on Wednesday.

“The brand of cricket that the KKR is playing and by KKR I just don’t mean the cricketers who are playing, but the entire administration.
“The way we think, the way we are doing things that is the real game changer for us,” Iyer told KKR’s lead mentor. David hussey in a video posted on the IPL website.
“The intention that we are showing not only on the field but off the field is what brought us here,” he added.
Pursuing a modest goal of 136, Iyer broke a 55 of 41 balls and, along with Shubhman gill (46), prepared the KKR victory over DC.

“I wasn’t chasing 136, I just went out to bat. I just wanted to play the first six overs and see what the situation is. That brought the best,” he said.
Asked about the final against CSK on Friday in Dubai, he said: “I am not going to treat it as a final or a great match. I will just play my game and do my best and that is what the whole team will do.”
