JAMMU: Jammu & Kashmir police arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative on Tuesday, who was tasked with receiving the shipment of air-dropped weapons outside Jammu on October 2 by his handlers. based in Pakistan.
Sharing details, additional director general of police (ADGP), Jammu area, Mukesh singh said: “One Irfan Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Verinag in Anantnag, was arrested in Phallian Mandal in connection with the airdrop in Jammu, as he was the recipient of the shipment. He has been arrested under the relevant sections of the Gun Law and other laws. ”
Singh claimed that Bhat has confessed that he was in contact with his handlers across the border. “Bhat had come from Verinag to receive the shipment, which included an AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 30 rounds of ammunition and a night vision device,” the ADGP said.
