Mayank Agarwal, Hanuma Vihari, Ravindra Jadeja among runs on final day of warm-up game | Cricket News
After defeating County XI by 220 on the second day, Agarwal (47 of 81) and Cheteshwar Pujara (38 of 58) opened India’s second inning on the third day.
The duo shared an 87-race position that ended when Agarwal charged down the wicket onto the off-piste Jack Carson only to be caught in the middle by his Indian teammate Washington Sundar.
Washington and pacemaker Avesh Khan, who are ready to fly home due to injury, played for the County XI in India’s only prep game before the first test that begins Aug. 4.
Like Agarwal, Pujara also had the opportunity to make a great score to boost his confidence before the first test. However, he fell into the trap set by Carson and threw a fastball to slide his leg.
Jadeja (51 of 77) and Vihari (43 not out of 105) then shared an 84-run position before the southpaw retired. Jadeja had scored 75 in the first innings.
The game did not have the same intensity as it was seen in the first two days with the game heading for a monotonous draw.
To the surprise of the opposition, India declared shortly after Jadeja completed his fifty with 33 overs to go.
County XI batted for 15.5 overs, scoring 31 without losing a wicket before the players shook hands.
Early in the game, KL Rahul scored a sublime half-century to make a statement before all five Test series, while Umesh Yadav looked good on the ball.
Jasprit Bumrah, who was out of color in the World Trials Championship final, finished with just a wicket in the game, while Mohammad Siraj took a pair. Pattern virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane missed the first-class game due to minor snags.
