ms dhoni: What happened overnight that a mentor was required? Ajay Jadeja questions BCCI | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer Ajay jadeja has questioned the BCCI’s decision to appoint a mentor for the national team in ICC T20 World Cup.
The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) announced on Thursday a 15-member team for the ICC event that kicks off in the United Arab Emirates and Oman on October 17.
In making the announcement, Secretary Jay Shah also stated that MS Dhoni will be the mentor of the team.
This may have impressed Dhoni fans, but Jadeja still can’t understand the motive behind the move.
The cricketer turned commentator said: “It is impossible for me to understand. I am thinking for two days about what the thought could be. I am not talking about MS Dhoni, the understanding it has or how useful it can be, I am not going towards that. It was as if you had sent Ravindra ahead of Ajinkya, the person thinks why it was done.
“I’m surprised. There is no bigger fan of MS Dhoni than me. I think MS Dhoni was the first captain who made the next captain before they left or they used to always change whenever they wanted,” he added.
Jadeja also stressed that India has done well with the boss. virat Kohli and head coach Ravi shastri and therefore, a mentor was not required for the next World Cup. “There is a coach who has led the team to No. 1 in the world, what happened overnight that a mentor was required? That thought surprises me a bit,” Jadeja said.
