No separate SoPs for festivals like Chhath, Diwali: Govt sources | India News

NEW DELHI: There are no separate Standard Operating Procedures (SoP) for specific festivals, including Chhath, and the existing policy to prevent the spread of Covid-19 It will continue, government sources said.
In response to concerns raised by Delhi’s Senior Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia, who urged the Center to issue SoP before Chhath and Diwali, government sources said that SoPs already exist and there is no need for new SoPs.
Sisodia has urged the Center to issue SoP for Chhath shortly after consulting with health experts.
“As health is a state issue, we had already issued SoP related to Covid protocols. Each state decides for itself whether RT-PCR is mandatory upon arrival at the airport or not. We do not interfere. We have SoPs in place and they are sufficient, “said a government source.
While the country is being warned during festival season with respect to COVID-19 cases, government sources said there will be no third wave if the people of the country decide. Sources said India has managed well so far and the government is concerned that the situation will not deteriorate during the festival season.
“We should know that Covid has not left us yet. We are concerned that the situation will not deteriorate from this. To avoid the third wave, the responsibility falls on the people of this country,” said the source.
However, many in the BJP believe that Sisodia has deliberately criticized the issue of Chhath and SoPs, as the party has been protesting restrictions on Chhath Puja celebrations. However, using caution, the government is trying to avoid any political duel over the Chhath Puja celebrations.
