In a statement, the ministry said 15,75,140 more doses are being supplied.
He said vaccine doses of 41.99 crore (41.99,68,590) have so far been provided to Union states and territories (UT) through all sources.
Of this, total consumption, including waste, is 39,42,97,344 doses, based on data available as of 8 a.m. Sunday, the ministry said.
He said that 2,56,71,246 doses of Covid vaccine – balanced and unused – are still available with states / UTand private hospitals.
The new phase of universalization of the Covid-19 vaccination program began on June 21. Under the program, the central government made inoculation free for all adults. Vaccines before they were free for people over 45 years old.
Under the nationwide vaccination campaign, the Government of India has been supporting the states / UT by providing them the vaccines, the ministry said.
In the new phase of the campaign, the Union government will acquire and supply 75 percent of the vaccines produced by vaccine manufacturers in the country free of charge to the states / UT, he said.
