MARGAO: Minister of the Interior of the Union, Amit Cha on Thursday he paid glorious tributes to former Goan Prime Minister and Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar stating that the fundamental work done by him on the defense front has helped change the world’s perspective towards India. The surgical strikes, he said, only helped bolster India’s sovereignty.
Speaking at the bhoomi-pujan function of the National University of Forensic Sciences in Dharbandora, Shah said that Parrikar would be remembered for a long time mainly for two things: one, for the implementation of One-Rank-One-Pension (OROP) for the forces armed, and two, for surgical strikes through the Line of Control.
“Under Modi’s leadership, Parrrikar gave the gift of OROP to our military. When implementing RFMO, Modi-Parrikar it somehow recognized the tyag, tapasya and balidan of our soldiers who spend the best years of their lives protecting our borders in temperatures ranging from -43 degrees C to +43 degrees C. The guardians of our borders are now completely safe that its the government of India takes care of families. Modi and Parrikar will be remembered for a long time, ”Shah said.
He said that when India responded to the killings of our jaws in Poonch with surgical strikes through the Line of Control, a stern message was sent to everyone that flirting with India’s borders was no longer an easy task. “Surgical strikes, for the first time, helped restore the honor of the nation’s borders and thus strengthened the sovereignty of India.”
He said the event changed the way the world in India. “Before, such acts of border incursions would only be followed by talks (to restore peace) and representations, now every provocation will be countered equally,” he said.
