Pawar and PK Meet Generates Rumors of Opposition Unity for 2024 Polls | India News

MUMBAI: Master Poll Strategist Prashant Kishore was introduced by the president of NCP Sharad Pawar on Friday for a three-hour interaction that has sparked speculation about plans to unite the opposition under a common banner.
The meeting takes place in the context of the assembly elections in West Bengal and Tamil nadu where regional parties dominated. Kishore has been credited with playing a key role in Mamata banerjee and the successful campaigns of MK Stalin.
The interaction took place at Pawar’s residence in Mumbai, with his daughter and MP. Supriya Sule and his great-nephew and MLA Rohit Pawar in attendance. Pawar’s efforts to lead the opposition unit at the national level against the BJP and his key role in creating the Maha Vikas Aghadi, a tripartite front of different ideologies, provided additional context.
NCP spokesman Nawab Malik said that the victories of Banerjee and MK Stalin have confirmed that in the coming days, regional parties will play a decisive role. “Pawar has embarked on a new mission, to unite opposition parties against the NDA for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” Malik said. “There cannot be a formula of a nation, a culture. India is multicultural and multilingual, ”he said.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar pointed out that Kishore had announced that he would resign from this space. Sachin Sawant from Congress said the party had no comment. “Congress under Rahul gandhi it has initiated steps for the unity of the opposition and the results will be seen in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, ”he said.
Shiv Sena spokesman Arvind Sawant said the party would be “happy” if Pawar becomes prime minister.
