NEW DELHI: Senior Chinese General Zhang Xudong who resigned as head of Western Theater Command (bordering India) in June he died at 58 years old.
According to sources, he suffered from cancer and gastrointestinal problems. He was replaced as head of the Western Theater Command after just six months as part of a series of leadership readjustments. His replacement, Xu Qiling, resigned after just two months and is also said to be in poor health amid a series of illnesses among commanders and troops stationed in the region.
