Police arrested 90 people at England matches during Euros | Football News


A total of 92 soccer-related arrests were made in Englandhome games during the 2020-21 season, including 90 in the european championshipthe Interior Ministry said in a statement Thursday.
The Football Association of England commissioned an independent review to investigate the riots during the Euro 2020 title clash against Italy to Wembley the 11 of July.
The final, won by Italy on penalties, was marred by skirmishes between fans and officials in and around the stadium.
British police made several arrests and said 19 officers were injured after fans without tickets broke security lines before the game.
Figures from the Home Office show that of the 90 football-related arrests made at Euro 2020, 39 were in the Italy match, 28 in the match against Scotland and 18 in the semi-final against Denmark.
“There were six other soccer-related arrests involving international teams playing in Euro 2020 at Wembley. All six occurred in the match between Italy and Spain,” the statement added.
The governing body of European football, UEFA, said it had appointed an ethics and discipline inspector to carry out an investigation into the chaos outside Wembley.
British media reported that UEFA could announce its decision early next week with England potentially ordered to play home games without fans present.
