NEW DELHI: The crisis in Punjab Congress is far from done with the party still fighting for a truce between Prime Minister Charanjit Channi and the head of the state unit Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Senior Congress Leader Harish rawat, who is also in charge of the Punjab unit, said that “Navjot Singh Sidhu and Charanjit Channi have spoken on some issues, a solution will emerge … there are some things that take time.”
Sidhu, who met with Harish Rawat and KC Venugopal party secretary general at the Congress headquarters, was told to work as president of the Punjab Congress and strengthen the party’s organizational structure.
Sidhu had resigned as head of the Punjab Congress on September 28 because he was upset by some bureaucratic changes made by Prime Minister Channi.
Yet in what may be a relief for the crisis-ravaged game, the cricketer-turned-politician has said he will accept whatever decision the party makes. Gandhis.
Leaving the meeting, Sidhu said, “I expressed my concerns about Punjab and the Punjab Congress to the party’s high command. I have full faith in the president of the Congress, Priyanka ji and Rahul ji. Whatever decision they make, it will be for the betterment of Congress and Punjab. I will follow your instructions. ”
Sidhu’s resignation, which precipitated the crisis in state unity, has not been accepted by the party so far.
Charanjeet Singh Channi was sworn in as Punjab’s 16th chief minister on September 20, days after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned as Punjab’s chief minister after months of infighting between him and Navjot Singh Sidhu.
