Reliance closes unit at Jamnagar refinery

NEW DELHI: Reliance Industries Ltd said it has closed a secondary unit at its export-only oil refinery in Jamnagar in Gujarat, which may delay the shipment of some product shipments.
“The Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) at our SEZ refinery in Jamnagar had to be taken to an emergency shutdown on June 6, 2021,” the firm said in a statement to the stock exchanges.
Reliance has two refineries that convert crude oil into value-added fuel such as gasoline and diesel at Jamnagar: a 35.2 million tonnes / year unit for exports only and a 33 million tonnes plant that supplies the domestic market.
“All other units in the Jamnagar refining complex are operating normally”, Dependence saying. “As a result, some product shipments may be delayed and we are working to minimize the impact on our customers.”
The FCCU unit, he said, is being repaired with the highest priority and is expected to restart quickly.
