Sansad TV is a fusion of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha television channels and will show the democratic spirit and the functioning of the democratic institutions of the country.
It will aim to target national and international audiences through its content.
Speaking at the launch, Prime Minister Modi said that Sansad TV will add another important chapter in India’s parliamentary system.
The launch of Sansad TV coincides with the International Day of Democracy.
“Today is International Democracy Day, so the launch has become more relevant. When it comes to democracy, India’s responsibility increases. India is the mother of democracy. For us, democracy is not just a constitutional structure, if not a spirit, is ‘jeevan dhara’, “said Prime Minister Modi.
The prime minister said that the new channel will be available on OTT platforms, social networks and will also have a separate mobile application.
Vice President Naidu said that Parliament is the heart of Indian democracy, while the media is its “eyes and ears” and we must ensure its health.
He said loud and disturbing noise should not drown out people’s voices in legislatures.
Be led by a retired official Ravi capoor, who was appointed its chief executive for one year from March 2021, Sansad TV is likely to have two operating platforms that will broadcast the proceedings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha live when Parliament is in session.
On the channel, Karan Singh will host a program on different religions, Bibek Debroy on history and Amitabh Kant on ‘Transformation of India’.
Principal economic advisor to the Ministry of Finance Sanjeev sanyal will host a lecture on economics, while renowned endocrinologist Dr. Ambrish Mithai will moderate a lecture on health topics.
