summit: PM Modi to attend first in-person Quad summit to be hosted by Biden next week | India News


NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi will participate in the Leaders’ Summit of the Quadrilateral Frame in Washington DC on September 24 with the PM of Australia Scott morrison, Japan PM Yoshihide suga and President of the United States. Joseph R Biden.
The leaders will review the progress made since their first Virtual Summit on March 12, 2021 and discuss regional issues of shared interest.

As part of their ongoing efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic, they will review the Quad Vaccine initiative that was announced in March of this year.
They will also exchange views on contemporary global issues such as critical and emerging technologies, connectivity and infrastructure, cyber security, maritime security, humanitarian assistance / disaster relief, climate change and education. The Summit would provide a valuable opportunity for dialogue and interactions among leaders, anchored in their shared vision of ensuring a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
The Prime Minister is expected to speak at the High Level Segment General Debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 25, 2021 in New York. The theme of this year’s General Debate is ‘Building resilience through hope of recovering from Covid-19, rebuilding sustainably, responding to the needs of the planet, respecting people’s rights and revitalizing the United Nations.’
