taliban: Pakistan’s national flag-carrier runs its first commercial flight to Kabul since Taliban takeover

ISLAMABAD: PakistanThe national flag carrier on Monday made its first commercial flight to Kabul from the Taliban taking possession of Afghanistan in the middle of August.
Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flight – PK 6429 – carried foreign journalists to Kabul and returned with a team of world Bank and international media organizations, Radio Pakistan reported.
This was the first international passenger flight since the Taliban seized the Afghan capital last month and announced a hard-line interim government.
In a statement, PIA Executive Director Air Marshal Arshad Malik said the purpose of the flight is to promote goodwill between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He said that this flight operation is very important to PIA and the entire world. He also expressed the hope that the flight operation would soon be fully restored.
However, the Kabul airport is not fully operational for international flights, the chartered flights of Qatar Airlines have transferred hundreds of US citizens, Germans, Afghans and others from the airport last week.
The airport has also been receiving international flights carrying humanitarian aid and domestic flights have resumed since early September, Afghanistan’s Khaama News reported.
