This will be the first non-Google smartphone to come with Android 12


NEW DELHI: Google recently released the final beta version for its next Android 12 OS. The company has also confirmed that it will officially release the stable version of Android 12 in the coming weeks. Now a smartphone maker Oppo has confirmed the release date of the ColorOS 12 operating system based on Android 12.
Oppo has confirmed that it will release ColorOS 12 on September 16. The company will unveil the latest operating system at a virtual launch event in China. Oppo has also announced that alongside the latest version of the operating system, the company will also launch its Reno 7 series of smartphones, a new smartwatch, and an Android tablet at the event.
The launch of Oppo Reno 7 will make it the first non-Google smartphone to come with the Android 12 operating system.
Oppo recently confirmed that the Android 12-based ColorOS 12 will be unveiled in mid to late September. The company has also released downloadable official ColorOS 12 wallpapers. The wallpapers come with a resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels.
In addition to the wallpaper, the company also posted a short video featuring various geometric shapes that make up the ColorOS 12 logo. The wallpaper and video hint at the colorful user interface of ColorOS 12. On the other hand, Digital Chat Station also posted an image of ColorOS 12 showing the user interface on mobile phones, tablets, and watches.
Meanwhile, a recent online report revealed that Google will officially launch the Android 12 operating system on October 4. According to a report by XDA Developers, Google Pixel phones will receive the official Android 12 update on October 4.
XDA Developers’ Mishaal Rahman has released an internal Google document stating that the tech giant will publish the source code for its latest operating system on October 4 in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).
