NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress MP Santanu Sen charged on Thursday Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri of “physically threatening and abusing him in obscene language” in Rajya Sabha’s flat shortly after the House was suspended and Vice President Harivansh on Thursday.
Sen had snatched papers from IT Minister Ashwini. Vaishnaw and he broke them within minutes of his attempt to make a statement in the House on the Pegasus spy problem.
“He was about to attack me, he threatened me, he used obscene language. Puri and other members of the treasury banks made me gheraoed (surrounded) … this is very unfortunate, ”Sen later told the media.

After Sen tore up the papers, TMC, Congress and other members of the opposition party, who had previously forced two postponements on Rajya Sabha, rushed to the well of the House when Vaishnaw was called in to make his statement.
This prevented the minister from making the statement and said he was leaving a copy on the table in the House.
Vice President Harivansh called on members to desist from non-parliamentary behavior, before suspending House proceedings for the day.
