Tokyo Olympics: India’s lone judoka Sushila Devi to face former Olympic medallist Eva in opening round | Tokyo Olympics News

TOKYO: Indian judoka Sushila Devi Likmabam has had a tough draw at the Tokyo Games, as it will open its first Olympic campaign against the bronze medalist of the London 2012 edition Eva Csernoviczki Hungary in the round of 32, here on Saturday.
The 26-year-old is the only representative of India in the Tokyo Olympics from judo and will face local favorite Funa Tonaki, the 2017 world champion, if she manages to cross the initial hurdle.
Sushila, who competes in the 48kg category, had qualified for her first Games through continental quota.
He had lost in the first round of the World Championships held in Budapest, but still made it to the Olympics after Asia received 10 continental spots and was number seven with 989 qualifying points.
Sushila burst onto the scene after claiming silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
She was part of the Indian team that was forced to withdraw from the Asia-Oceania Olympic qualifiers in Bishkek in April this year after two fellow players tested positive for COVID-19.
