Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony director fired over old Holocaust skit: Organisers | Tokyo Olympics News

The director of the Tokyo Olympic opening ceremony show, Kentaro Kobayashi, was fired for a decades-old comedy skit that references the Holocaust, organizers said Thursday, in the latest hit for the Games delayed by the pandemic.
“It came to light that during a past performance, (he) used language that mocked a tragic event in history,” Tokyo 2020 Olympic chief Seiko Hashimoto told reporters.
“The organizing committee has decided to relieve Kobayashi of his position,” he added.
