India’s winning percentage below Kohli is better than Mahendra Singh Dhonitenure during which the team won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.
India has won 27 of the 45 matches with Kohli with two matches drawn and as many abandoned, making for a healthy 65.11 winning percentage.
India has yet to win an ICC trophy with Kohli, but the team series wins with him in South AfricaAustralia, New Zealand, England and the West Indies will continue to be the highlights of his tenure as leader from 2017:
** India’s first win in the bilateral T20 series came under Kohli in 2017 when the team won the only match in Sri Lanka.
** The first victory of the series in the SENA countries came in South Africa in 2018 when India won 2-1.
** In the same year, India managed to beat a formidable England team in their own backyard with the series result 2-1.
** By far the biggest win overseas came in New Zealand in the 2019-20 season with Kohli’s team defeating the Black Caps 5-0 before losing the next test series and ODI.
** In 2020, India rallied after losing the ODI series in Australia to win the T20 rubber 2-1.
** More recently, India beat mighty England at home 3-2 and Kohli was named Player of the Series.
** Kohli remains the leading race scorer in T20 with 3,159 runs averaging an impressive 52.65 and the highest score of 94 not out.
