WhatsApp He is reportedly working on a Community feature for the app and it looks like the function will be tied to Groups. According to a report by XDADevelopers, the string additions in WhatsApp’s latest beta v220.127.116.11 come with several new strings that point to the feature called ‘Community’. The chain indicates that the tech giant is working on something new. Most community related strings have a ‘parent_group’ as part of the string ID, which makes it look like part of the existing Groups function.
When you look closely at the strings, you will notice that the new additions exist alongside the strings of the group function, indicating that both functions can coexist. The company hasn’t officially revealed anything about the new feature yet, but few reports suggest that maybe it’s just a name change. In addition to this, WhatsApp is also said to be working on various other new features.
According to a report from WABetainfo, the platform is working on a new voice memo feature that allows you to pause and continue recording a voice memo without the need to record another message or send the one that you may have to interrupt. From now on, you can only listen to the voice message that you recorded before sending it. It is not yet clear when the new feature will be rolled out to all users as it is not even available to public beta testers until now, but according to the report, the feature will be available on iOS and Android devices in the future beta update.
The company also recently launched a new feature called Disappearing Messages. Once enabled, new messages sent in individual or group chat will disappear after 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days. These settings will not affect messages that you previously sent or received in chat.
